A new study looks into how ecosystems recover from drought.  The worrisome part is that, due to unusual warmth, the time required for full recovery is in many cases growing longer just as relevant droughts are growing more frequent.  Vegetation growth that is needed for capturing CO2 from the air is thus held back.  Lots more information here:

The recent government study of climate change in America.  It has become famous because the contents were leaked before the time of regular prior authorization.  This post, issued by Joe Romm, has a summary of the most interesting contents, which go well beyond what you will find in a more conservative IPCC report.  Many scientists took part in preparing the draft, which Donald Trump surely would, or will, deem objectionable.  One example—the report does not rule out a potential sea level rise of at least 8 feet by the end of this century.

Increased humidity that results from climate change is a real problem.  Scientists in Iowa have seen increases of 8 to 23% for their state since 1971.  They describe a long list of ill effects.  An increase in intense rainfall is also noted.

All of Iceland’s glaciers are retreating at an unprecedented rate (a Feature story from Thomson Reuters).

What palm oil is doing to the world’s environment.  Yearly production has risen from one million tons in 1970 to 63 million in 2016, largely at the expense of vast stretches of ancient forest and the wildlife it contains.  The highly significant release of CO2 should not be overlooked.
