Bright outlook for home energy storage units, worldwide.  As an aside, I keep hearing about officials at the NSA, and others, who warn about various ways that enemies could knock out large portions of the power grid in the U.S.  That should give people an extra incentive for being less reliant on it, now that they are gaining the means to do so.

A new way to produce oil?  This is the second time this story has turned up, this time with Bloomberg as the source.  The technology has apparently been validated.  If all true it is quite revolutionary, with huge implications because the quantity of oil sands in the general area that are available is prodigious.  The best part is that the method of production is relatively clean, and being located here in the U.S. it would not be hard to regulate.  If it can displace the Alberta tar sands and the like, or deep sea deposits, that would be fine.  The dark side is simply that an increased supply of cheap oil reserves would complicate the effort to switch to cleaner sources of energy when burned.
Further information is available at this site.  The level of proof is still a little sketchy but we’ll need to keep an eye on it.
